Background and Nonacademic Interests
I am a born and raised Midwesterner, from a small town in Minnesota. I lived in St. Paul during undergrad and Minneapolis after getting my BA, while working in the bilingual literacy program at an elementary school. I moved out to New Brunswick, NJ for graduate school.
In my free time, I follow politics and current events and watch late-night comedians. Other hobbies include the classics like reading, music, cooking and baking (especially when I can share the results), and binge-watching shows on Netflix or Hulu. Blurring the line between professional and personal interests, I'm always on the look-out for songs, videos, memes and articles in/about Spanish or bilingualism that I can use in my teaching. An aspiring polyglot, I'd like to achieve proficiency in too many languages to count, but beyond Spanish, I've actively studied only French, Swedish, and American Sign Language. |
I love to explore new places. I've traveled to Peru and Costa Rica (below) with study abroad groups, as well as to Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, England, France, and Monaco as a tourist.

I enjoy strength training and HIIT, regularly practice yoga, and dabble in aerial acrobatics (below)
